Reptiles

Reptiles are members of the class Reptilia, are cold-blooded, and bear scales. Reptiles originated around 320-310 million years ago during the Carboniferous period, having evolved from reptile-like amphibians that became increasingly adapted to to life on dry land.

There probably aren’t very many reptiles on the Fieldston campus, but it has ideal habitat for the common garter snake, which is numerous in New York City. Click on the species to learn more about it!
