Molluscs

Molluscs are invertebrates that include 85,000 living, recognized species. Molluscs are the largest marine phylum, comprising 23% of named marine organisms. Many molluscs also live in freshwater and terrestrial habitats. They are diverse in size, anatomical structure, behavior, and habitat. The phylum is typically divided into nine or ten taxonomic classes, two of which are extinct. Certain kinds of molluscs, including squid, cuttlefish, and octopus, are among the most neurologically advanced of all invertebrates, and either the giant squid or the colossal squid is the largest known invertebrate species.
